Synopsis

Readers around the world have fallen in love with the Senior League, five residents of the Diamond Retirement Home-Martha, The Genius, The Rake, Christina and Anna-Greta-who turn to a life of crime.

New owners have taken over the Diamond, making cost-cutting changes that have transformed the happy home into a dull and dreary place. The residents wonder if they wouldn’t be better off in prison! Martha gets an idea: they shall commit a crime that will ensure conviction-some type of financial crime, a small coup of some sort. They will give whatever they get to the poor and elderly. If Robin Hood could do it, so can they!

What starts as a robbery attempt at a nearby luxury hotel escalates to art theft from a major museum, the culprits armed only with bolt cutters and high-tech walkers. The Mafia gets wind of these robberies, and suddenly the underworld has its eye on both the stolen paintings and the handiwork of The Genius. Soon the Senior League has both the law and the lawless at their heels.

what a waste of time.
February 25th, 2015
sadly this book is too reminiscent of many other attempts at such spoofs and doesn't hit the mark at all. It is badly written, totally implausible and not remotely funny. perhaps it improved but i quit, i have way too many good books to read to waste my time on this. no wonder it's on special with KOBO you couldn't give it away to me.

Lots of fun and clever.

Really enjoyed this book! Sometimes found myself wondering how the author dreamed up so many complex plots for this group of very clever seniors. Af A fun read for anyone.

over dramatic

The escapades were fun to enjoy though at times character flaws were not believable. Nice read on support of what Seniors can do when most think they have grown past their "usefulness ".

Very cute

This book is pretty cute. I do think it would make a very good humerus movie. The simplistic ways these old timers go about doing crimes and getting away with it is adorable.

Book loses momentum with translation
January 30th, 2015
While the story was interesting, reading the prose was a slog. The book could have benefitted by a good English editor. It lost momentum when the police entered the story. A writer should not spend the readers time on characters she is not going to fully develop. The thoughts of the police did not add anything. They shoukd have remained as distant as the Yugoslav criminal.

A very entertaining read. Never knew what was the oldies we're going to do next. They spiced up their mundane lives and those of many others, including the reader's.
