This was an amazing book which documents the history of Afghanistan, it captures the friendship of two boys from two different worlds. The author was able to transport you to various era in the history of Afghanistan and showing you the changes. It was a moving story that I found myself crying at certain parts of the book. I am glad I read the book first before watching the movie. Khaled Hosseini is an amazing author.

Excellent story of growing up in Afganistan as a wealthy child befriending a child from less means and the challenges a class society dictates. A rare look into the other side of life in Afganistan away from politics and violence. Don't miss this great read.

I found this book to be exciting, disturbing and probably more true than fiction. What is described in the book continues to happen today as we speak. Hosseini has a very unique writing style that I found to be very compelling. His characters feel real and have all the flaws real people display. I really enjoyed this book and want to read Hosseinis' other books.
