Synopsis

THE CASTLE OF OTRANTO is a Gothic masterpiece by Horace Walpole (1717-1797).  The story follows the misfortunes of Manfred, lord of Castle of Otranto in Italy whose son Conrad dies mysteriously just before he is to marry.  Since an ancient prophecy foretells of the extinction of the Otrantos, Manfred fears the ancient doom of Otranto has come to claim him.
