Synopsis

The last twelve stories written about Holmes and Watson, these tales reflect the disillusioned world of the 1920s in which they were written. Some of the sharpest turns of wit in English literature are contrasted by dark images of psychological tragedy, suicide, and incest in a collection of tales that have haunted generations of readers.

The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes

Off the beaten track
June 1st, 2015
The Casebook is one of the least-known collections of Sherlock Holmes short stories, which gives it a piquancy which the more familiar stories have lost through exposure. Also interesting are the late dates at which some stories are set, and the couple narrated by Holmes himself. Fascinating indeed.
