I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Hoffman made her characters and home feel real and alive. I felt like I had been transported to the South with the nostalgia and warmth of the characters. Beautifully written and crafted, each person was distinct, human, and real. She allowed flaws to be part of the women which highlighted their strengths and character all the more. Love the aspect of family being crafted not just by blood but by the relationships that form among women. The emotion and warmth of this book linger past the final page and stays with you.

A magnificent debut novel, this story is a touching tale of rescue, healing and true family, which is not always the one we're born into. The perfect mix of Southern spiced humor and truth, it will make you laugh and cry, laugh til you cry, and miss the characters like old friends when you turn the last page. This is a truly beautiful work of Southern coming-of-age fiction.
