"These stories have been rolling around inside my head for a longtime. I’m sure there are life’s lessons in them. I’m just not sure what the lesson is. Maybe if I get them all down on paper, the meaning of life will jump out at me. I have a strong will and can force a lot of things to get done, but any more, that seems to apply only to one thing at a time. (And even in retirement I have more things than time.). Come to think of it, I probably never could think of more than one thing at a time. That’s how I came to have most of these experiences: a stubborn single-mindedness of purpose that led me not only to do them, but to survive them."
