Synopsis

Carole Ann Gibson and her husband, Al Crandall, are both partners in high-profile D.C.law firms. Carole Ann makes huge bucks repping white collar criminals while Al rakes in the big ones repping oil and gas multinationals who pollute the earth. Fed up with their success keeping the bad guys out of prison, they decide to quit when they conclude the cases they're working on. CA, as she's known to her friends, finishes first, winning an acquittal for her first innocent client in a long time--a young D.C. cop wrongly accused of being corrupt. Al's last case is a killer--literally. It's first thought he was the victim of a street mugging, but the investigating homicide detective soon smells murder, and takes a bullet in the back for his trouble. Confined to a wheelchair, he and the young cop CA saved help her navigate the murky Louisiana bayou, looking for Al's killer and for the killer of the bayou, which is dying a slow, polluted death.
