Synopsis

In the darkest corners of the night in Caldwell, New York, a conflict like no other rages. The city is home to a band of brothers born to defend their race: the warrior vampires of the Black Dagger Brotherhood . . .

Qhuinn, son of no one, is used to being on his own. Disavowed from his bloodline, shunned by the aristocracy, he has finally found an identity as one of the most brutal fighters in the war against the Lessening Society. But his life is not complete. Even as the prospect of having a family of his own seems to be within reach, he is empty on the inside, his heart given to another.

Blay, after years of unrequited love, has moved on from his feelings for Qhuinn. And it's about time: the male has found his perfect match in a Chosen female, and they are going to have a young - just as Qhuinn has always wanted for himself. It's hard to see the new couple together, but building your life around a pipe dream is just a heartbreak waiting to happen. As he's learned first-hand.

Fate seems to have taken these vampire soldiers in different directions . . . but as the battle over the race's throne intensifies, and new players on the scene in Caldwell create mortal danger for the Brotherhood, Qhuinn finally learns the true definition of courage . . .

Absolutely love these books, J. R.Ward is a brilliant author. So glad she kept it real and aired Quinn and Blays love for one another. Straight, gay, black, white who cares everyone should have love in their lives with whomever they choose. Black dagger brotherhood books are fantastic!

Worth waiting for?

Slight spoiler!!! I was really looking forward to the release of this book since I realised it was Qhuinn/Blay centric, but having read it I'm not sure if it was really up to the standard of the other books! There just seemed to be quite a bit going on about roughly 6 other characters who had concurrent plots, whose point of view we were given who I didn't really care about...I understand that so much of the build up to these two has happened over the preceding books that it might not be necessary to go into too much detail but it just felt as though their story wasn't given as much weight as the others because of this lack of detail. I do think that it was great that Ward released a book about them I just think that it was a bit too safe! Maybe to cater to the more sensitive readers who may not be particularly comfortable reading about 2 guys! Don't get me wrong I did enjoy the book was just a bit disappointed!:/ Oh and one last thing why on Earth was Journey Don't stop believing the song chosen??? Good song but in the context of The Brotherhoods world?? Made me laugh and cringe and have glee flashbacks all at once!!
