Synopsis

One Person Can Make a Difference

In search of adventure, twenty-nine-year-old Conor Grennan traded his day job for a year-long trip around the globe, a journey that began with a three-month stint volunteering at the Little Princes Children’s Home, an orphanage in war-torn Nepal.

Conor was initially reluctant to volunteer, unsure whether he had the proper skill, or enough passion, to get involved in a developing country in the middle of a civil war. But he was soon overcome by the herd of rambunctious, resilient children who would challenge and reward him in a way that he had never imagined. When Conor learned the unthinkable truth about their situation, he was stunned: The children were not orphans at all. Child traffickers were promising families in remote villages to protect their children from the civil war—for a huge fee—by taking them to safety. They would then abandon the children far from home, in the chaos of Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu.

For Conor, what began as a footloose adventure becomes a commitment to reunite the children he had grown to love with their families, but this would be no small task. He would risk his life on a journey through the legendary mountains of Nepal, facing the dangers of a bloody civil war and a debilitating injury. Waiting for Conor back in Kathmandu, and hopeful he would make it out before being trapped in by snow, was the woman who would eventually become his wife and share his life’s work.

Little Princes is a true story of families and children, and what one person is capable of when faced with seemingly insurmountable odds. At turns tragic, joyful, and hilarious, Little Princes is a testament to the power of faith and the ability of love to carry us beyond our wildest expectations.

This book was captivating! Touching and funny, the author leads us on a humanitarian quest to save children who are casualties of war. Selfless and courageous he discovers his purpose and his heart, in a moments choice. Finding a path in life is rarely planned. Connor becomes a hero to the orphans he rescues. A true portrait of life.

Little Princes is an engaging account of Conor Grennan's experience when he volunteers at the Little Princes orphanage in Nepal. His humour and descriptions of what life is like for many children and families in Nepal will keep you glued to the book as you take part in the roller coaster ride with him. Not only a wonderful read, but an important one to learn about what is happening in other parts of the world.

This book is so inspiring, the true story of a young man who started out to take a year and travel for his own enjoyment. To challenge his peers who criticized his selfish motives he went to Tibet first. Here he encountered unbelievable poverty and the unconditional love of children in an orphanage. The experience changed him and to this day he volunteers and works in support of Tibet's children, The Little Princes. You won't want to put this book down.

This book is very easy to read and hard to put down. The author describes his experience in sincere terms but without being mushy. Not everyone could do what this author did - leave his job and go help people in another part of the world, but this book does show what one can do if you are determined.I recommended this book to friends. It is good without being vulgar. It should be added to high school curricula.

A beautiful and inspirational book on how to live, how to help yourself and how to help others. Through Connors storytelling I felt like I was right there beside him. I actually wanted to be there beside him while at the orphanage meeting and teaching the children. The scenery of the landscape, the emotions of the villagers and children in this books is so captivating. The beginning of a journey turned into a life long mission is absolutely inspiring and heart warming. I finished this book in one sitting! I also couldn't help but buy a copy for each friend for their birthday in 2009!

Inspiring! Along the lines of Three Cups of Tea, but far more personal. A great story of redemption and dedication.
