Synopsis

He cannot remember his name. All of his memories have been erased by The Agency. He only knows that his designation is Ion, an Arbiter bestowed with special powers. Able to interface with a suspect’s brain, Ion is able to not only see into their past, but also know what the person thought and felt at the time an event occurred. He is programmed to serve as judge, jury, and executioner. His sole purpose is to deliver justice or redemption to those who have slipped through the cracks of a justice system plagued by greed and corruption.

When Ion is reprogrammed to expand his capabilities, a young Sentinel seizes the opportunity to build an army of Arbiters to carry out her personal vendettas. Little does she know that fate and coincidence are about to collide, putting humanity in the middle of the coming storm and forcing Ion’s past to start pushing through the walls of his mind.

Well written but falls a bit short

I rather enjoyed Marek's original Arbiter series. I didn't find Ion really captured the same feel; it felt a bit lackluster overall. Ion seemed a little shallow and foolish. Overall the tale was pretty good, I would've just preferred a better Arbiter than Ion.
