Synopsis

A PbRJV Short - Ianthe Brandon is a progressive woman – even for late Victorian England; well-educated, independent, and with a special gift.
Richard Wintercombe is an aristocrat with a potentially scandalous problem. Ianthe reluctantly agrees to assist him and then becomes attracted to the man.
Will Ianthe find much more than a solution to Richard's problem as they work together?

Chapter One
Ianthe Brandon's flat in Soho was charming, but very small. And it did seem tiny to her sometimes, when she compared it with the homes of her relatives. She had been reared in a house in nearby Mayfair. Her mother had been a wealthy woman, who made an unhappy marriage. Like many women, she had found solace in the arms of other lovers, but she had been unlucky. Her husband had divorced her, with a good deal of publicity and scandal.
So Ianthe had been left in her father's custody, but he had been rather indifferent to his child because she was only a female. He'd allowed her to visit Mrs. Brandon in France and Brussels quite often. Also, he had sent her to a good school where she received a better education than women of her class usually did. Then she had gone to Oxford. Women's colleges had been in existence for a time but at present, women were not allowed to take degrees. She enjoyed her time there, and she had made many friends who were still around and in her life in London.
