Synopsis

Abandoned by her father and ostracized by her fellow villagers Shallah never imagined she would lead anything but a small solitary life. But when a mute boy is found on the green and the village council seems poised to cast him out she elects to accompany him home though she's no idea where it might be. Crippled by her own insecurities and the taunts of the village naysayers Shallah struggles to protect her remarkable young charge from larger-than-life enemies and an unavoidable fate too terrible to contemplate.

Really enjoyed the storyline and writing style. Found it difficult to put down. A little disappointed with ending. Many morales visited during the quest therefore expected a different message at the end.

It's a very fanastical book about a little blind girl trying to save a little boy and the woods she lived in all her life. Not to my tastes but gripping - hard to put down for those who like this genre.

This book was not what I expected. I was pleasantly surprised! Following a blind girl as the main character I would think would be difficult, but the author's writing was very fluid and kept me wanting to read more...
