Synopsis

#1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor returns with his hottest and most action-packed thriller yet! And don’t miss FREE FALL: A Prelude to Hidden Order, available for free download now!

The most secretive organization in America operates without any accountability to the American people. Hiding in the shadows, pretending to be part of the United States government, its power is beyond measure.

Control of this organization has just been lost and the future of the nation thrust into peril.

When the five candidates being considered to head this mysterious agency suddenly go missing, covert counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath is summoned to Washington and set loose on the most dangerous chase ever to playout on American soil.

But as the candidates begin turning up murdered, the chase becomes an all-too-public spectacle, with every indicator suggesting that the plot has its roots in a shadowy American cabal founded in the 1700s.

With the United States on the verge of collapse, Harvath must untangle a web of conspiracy centuries in the making and head off the greatest threat America has ever seen.

This is thriller writing at its absolute best, where the stakes have never been higher, nor the line between good and evil so hard to discern.

Always learn something when I read his books. This one taught me about the Federal Reserve and what it is. It kept ones attention all the way through the book.

I have read most of Scott's books. I liked this one the least. I look to the books with Scott Harvath as fast moving thrillers filled with goodies about high tech methods of surveillance, cool weapons and hard action. If I want to read about the history of the Federal Reserve or spots of historical interest circa the Revolutionary War, I know where to look. Harvath as a helper-bee team player working with the Boston police was way off character for the Scott Harvath I've gotten to know. It seems as if Brad couldn't make up his mind what story he wanted to tell and it turned into a patchwork quilt of history, encounters with deviant personalities, sadistic murders, and unlikely soft-hearted (at least for the Harvath character) and immediate love and devotion for a little boy based on how cute he was. Really....?? I can understand Brad not wanting to get stale and write only "formula books", but this one was a bit confusing and difficult to follow.

It was okay....nothing special. Most will read it cause its part of the series of Scott. Without giving away spoilers, I will just say that the reasoning behind the "killings" was heavily flawed, and detracted from what could have been a viable story line.

Could not get into this book. Rarely do I not give a book the benefit of finishing it but I just couldn't. To many characters and it jumped all over the place.

Outstanding and very gripping

Outstanding as always. It is fiction, but so close to present day reality that you can't help but ponder where we are headed as a society. Can't wait to read your next thriller. By the way, Scott needs to have some normality in his life and think it would be great to see Lara and Marco remain in his life. Well done Brad!

Not bad, but...

This book wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't as good as his other Harvath books. More story driven, and character advancing than the edge of your seat action we normally get. I guess every so often you have to do that. Also the book was very short, could've done some more twists and turns. I recommend getting this from the library, not a full price buy.

Brilliant as usual!

Brad Thor never fails to deliver a great story. His plots are always very scary because they could very easily happen in real life! My only issue, not even a major one, is that once the "plot" has been solved it took awhile to wind down the story. Got a little draggy. Regardless, it was a great read and highly recommended!
