Degas was a painter, poet and sculptor. A lonely and often difficult man to befriend. His working life was  torn between the possibilities of capturing real moments in time and his loyalties to the classical tradition. Although classically trained Degas was influenced by modern technology.  He interpreted much of his work adopting the impressionist ideology of the time which challenged traditional replication.

This ebook exposes some of the lesser known aspects of Degas as a collector of Japanese art and his obsession with painting silk fans. It reveals a man often criticised wrongly for portraying women negatively. Rather he demonstrates an overriding respect and fascination for women through his relationships and work.
