Synopsis

It began in Scotland, at an ancient stone circle.  There, a doorway, open to a select few, leads into the past--or the grave.  Claire Randall survived the extraordinary passage, not once buy twice.  Her first trip swept her into the arms of Jamie Fraser, an eighteenth-century Scot whose love for her became legend--a tale of tragic passion that ended with her return to the present to bear his child.  Her second journey, two decades later, brought them together again in frontier America.  But Claire had left someone behind in the twentieth century.  Their daughter Brianna...

Now, Brianna has made a disturbing discovery that sends her to the stone circle and a terrifying leap into the unknown.  In search of her mother and the father she has never met, she is risking her own future to try to change history...and to save their lives.  But as Brianna plunges into an uncharted wilderness, a heartbreaking encounter may strand her forever in the past...or root her in the place she should be, where her heart and soul belong...

Wondeful saga! great characters, good plot and the story flows well. Jamie and Claire are mature, but still in love. Focus shifts to Brianna and Roger.

Outlander Series is mind-blowingly awesome!!
April 21st, 2015
I was a little in starting this series (10 years after it first came out!), but I have never enjoyed a series so much! Now that the TV series is out it verifies the pictures I had in my mind while reading the books! In this novel (as in the others in the series) every emotion that a Human being can feel is written in such a way that you yourself feel the emotions happy, sad, mad, angry, ecstatic, frightened, etc. they are all there! Diana Gabaldon is an amazing Author. The historical details she has in each novel are so informative and factual - feels like she was actually there in those times! I can't stop reading the books in this series - but I never want to get to the end of the final book (hopefully there will never be a final book??). Thanks so much Diana!

More a romance novel than science fiction
March 29th, 2015
This series started out great but like most series is finishing with less. It has basically turned into a romance novel and even though I am interested in the fate of all the characters I don't have the stomach to finish the series. There is just to much better science fiction/fantasy out there to read.

Like all of Diana's books this one is awesome. I love the way she mixes history with a great love story. I can't wait to see how this book is added to the new TV show that came out this winter.

Was afraid at first, with all new point of views that I would be eager to return to my favorites and become frustrated. SO NOT THE CASE!!! I love these characters so much, I love to yell at them when I think they are being imbeciles, I love to see how they learn from their mistakes, I love the ah-ha when I realize they made the decision they did because of some past event I had yet to read about!!! Diana Gabaldon knows how to make a reader feel guilty for judging her beloved characters I have yet to learn my lesson!!! PS: I <3 John Grey. I wish we could clone Jamie just for his sake :)
