Synopsis

In 1912, history was changed by the Miracle, when the old world of Europe was replaced by Darwinia, a strange land of nightmarish jungle and antedeluvian monsters. To some, the Miracle is an act of divine retribution; to others, it is an opportunity to carve out a new empire.

Leaving American now ruled by religious fundamentalism, young Guilford Law travels to Darwinia on a mission of discovery that will take him further than he can possibly imagine...to a shattering revelation about mankind's destiny in the universe.

Darwinia is a 1999 Hugo Award Nominee for Best Novel.

Darwinia-A well written, engrossing tale
January 15th, 2015
The book was listed at about $3.00 but when I clicked on "Buy" I was informed the price had risen to about $8.00. I was annoyed that Kobo would do this. Normally, I would have cancelled the purchase on principle alone. But, the sample had intrigued me and so I purchased it. Really Kobo, there was no need to show the low initial cost to reel me in. Darwinia is a very good read. The premise was unusual and development of the main character very good. As the story unfolds the scope widens to unexpected proportions and is thought provoking for sure. It was definitely worth the cost and I will be buying more novels by Robert Charles Wilson!

Did not like it like I liked Spin. Starts like science fiction but in the middle it becomes a little Lovecraft. Great finish though.
