Could be better

While the story is entertaining , the poor punctuation, and proofreading makes it a very difficult read.

Good book, horrid publishing
April 24th, 2015
Solid story line to keep you interesting, but every second sentence has either the wrong word, misspelled word, wrong verb tense or such. You end up re reading every sentence just to try and figure out what it is supposed to say. Sometimes even then you pass it over and can't figure it out till later in the page. Would increase the rating if proper proofreading was done, as it stands I find three stars being overly generous as it is so agrivating trying to dissect every sentence.

Branded Mage. By; D.W. Jackson

To say I am disappointed is the biggest understatement I've ever placed in a book review. This need two or three top tier editors to go through it line by line and make the hundreds of grammar mistakes disappear and also update the hundreds of incorrect words used. Approximately 20% of the reading time for this novel was spent trying to figure out what the author was really trying to say or what words he actually meant to use due to the lack of editing and the mispelled words and plain old incorrect words used. The really sad thing with this book and the first one is that the plot and premise are very solid and had the potential to rival sir Michael Manning's blacksmith's son mage books. However due to some truly childish and overly simplistic writing coupled with lack of any proper editing, this book is a bust. I had really high hopes for this series but after making it through the first book and now having to literally force myself to slug through this second one, I am officially done. I am so dispirited at the way this turned out because I was so very optimistic coming into this supposedly stunning and riveting original series...LOL...that must have been review about a different series of books. Don't waste your money here, I fully expect each and every book in this series to be listed in the free wondload department very soon. It is the only way a few more people will end up reading them.

Just more of the same
March 29th, 2015
Juvenile and simplistic. Just more of the same from the first book. Could not finish it even though I am interested in the plot. Will have to get some 10 year old to finish the series for me and tell me how it turns out.

Not doing the basics right
March 21st, 2015
It is very distracting to read with so many spelling mistakes. Sentence structure is awful. A lot lot of the time the wrong word is used. The writing is not bad,a little simple, but the story gets across.

Good story, terrible editing

Really good story, but absolutely terrible editing. Full of spelling and grammatical errors, looks as though predictive text was usedas some words are completely wrong. Really painful to read.

Waste of money

Truly, the initial premise is a good one, however this series is in DIRE need of a good editor, and some fleshing out of the characters, particularly the main protagonist. Wish I could get a refund.

Spell check?
February 2nd, 2015
The story is decent but rushed and the spelling is horrible. Everyting about this series is rushed, they didn't even have time for proof readers? If you just want to kill time feel free but don't expect much.

Good story, poorly written
January 30th, 2015
It is quite clear this is the work of a junior high school student who decided to self-publish without the use of spell check, or a grammar check, and clearly doesn't know what punctuation marks are. Language such as "bro" and "giving props" do NOT belong in this setting. The dialogue between characters does not seem to flow naturally, and I often find myself re-reading sentences and entire paragraphs simply to figure out what's being said. It physically hurts my brain trying to read this. However, the store and plot points are interesting. I MIGHT purchase the next books in the series simply to see how this goes. The author would benefit greatly from having a proof reader go through and correct everything, and re-publishing. This has the potential to be a great series.

Plot and character development are very good but the quality of writing is marred by poor spelling and grammar. The author desperately needs a good editor.

The books are enjoyable, but really miss the time of editors. Spell check is great but its very irritating to read books where I feel like a grammar Nazi.

An excellent storyline which is only spoiled by the poor editing of the script, the incorrect spelling and punctuation make understanding the meaning somewhat tricky. I'm truly disappointed as I enjoyed the story that I read with difficulty and would like to read more, even though it is not pleasurable with the parlous state of the unedited script.
