Synopsis

With this stunning debut novel, New York Times bestselling author Lauren Oliver emerged as one of today's foremost authors of young adult fiction. Like Jay Asher's Thirteen Reasons Why and Gayle Forman's If I Stay, Before I Fall raises thought-provoking questions about love, death, and how one person's life can affect so many others.

For popular high school senior Samantha Kingston, February 12—"Cupid Day"—should be one big party, a day of valentines and roses and the privileges that come with being at the top of the social pyramid. And it is…until she dies in a terrible accident that night.

However, she still wakes up the next morning. In fact, Sam lives the last day of her life seven times, until she realizes that by making even the slightest changes, she may hold more power than she ever imagined.

Named to numerous state reading lists, this novel was also recognized as a Best Book of the Year by Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, The Daily Beast, NPR, and Publishers Weekly. It has been optioned for film by Fox 2000 Pictures.

Supports the Common Core State Standards.

Before I Fall is a beautifully written story about a girl who dies and gets a chance to relive her last day and give some meaning to the life she's left behind. It really makes you stop and think about how precious life is, how we want to be remembered and how our actions, good or bad, affect those around us, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem to us at the time. Can't wait to read more of Lauren Oliver's titles.

Great Book

I kinda love but disliked this book... It was amazingly well written and stuff, but it's just so sad! I wish she wouldn't have died! But I loved it for what it was, because it symbolized the strength of friendship and love. It also kind of have a moral; all those bullshits about bullying and parties and alcohol... They aren't good! Anyways, it was a very good book. I would have but wouldn't have changed the end, I don't know... I don't like the fact that she dies, even though the way she does is quite honorable. I guess not everything ends up with a "Happy Ever After". But Good Book!

Absolutely could not stop reading this. Frustrating, enlightening and hopeful all wrapped up in a glorious little book. So happy I read it. Not the happy go lucky ending I would have hoped for but it.makes sense.
