Synopsis

Five seconds - that's all - and the history of the twenty-first century would have been re-written.

1990. Flight 149 lands at a deserted Kuwait International Airport as Iraqi forces swarm across the border. Passengers are held hostage, all except twelve who embark on a dangerous, covert operation.

Twenty years later, the twelve are being murdered one by one and ruthless ex-undercover man, Delaney, is determined to find out why. Loyalty and treachery walk hand in hand, friends become enemies, as he carves a brutal path across Europe to find the answers.

Back in Cambridge, Abida Zaid, Iraqi politician, is the target of an assassination attempt. Emma Parker's task of keeping him alive is complicated further by Zaid's association with remorseless gangsters and unscrupulous politicians.Eventually, Delaney and Emma are drawn together in a bid to find the answers to problems twenty years apart.

This hard-hitting contemporary novel hints at what might have been - but for those five seconds.
