Synopsis

Laying hands upon the injured and dying, Avry of Kazan absorbs their wounds and diseases into herself. But rather than being honored for her skills, she is hunted. Healers like Avry are accused of spreading the plague that has decimated the Fifteen Realms, leaving the survivors in a state of chaos.

Stressed and tired from hiding, Avry is abducted by a band of rogues who, shockingly, value her gift above the golden bounty offered for her capture. Their leader, an enigmatic captor-protector with powers of his own, is unequivocal in his demands: Avry must heal a plague-stricken prince-leader of a campaign against her people. As they traverse the daunting Nine Mountains, beset by mercenaries and magical dangers, Avry must decide who is worth healing and what is worth dying for. Because the price of peace may well be her life….

    Excellent

Love this story. The science fiction and fantasy world paired with a strong heroin make for an intoxicating mix. I was so anxious to know what happened I had a hard time putting it down.

    Surprisingly good

To be honest I almost didn't bother with this book, because the writing style seemed silly. My mind quickly changed to pleasantly surprised! I liked the heroine (though a bit naive) and her companions (unfortunately all men). I feel this series needs more women considering the ex and the priestess were interesting fleshed out characters, except that they were token "bad" women. I mean, ruining men's hearts? Desperately preserving virginity? Women don't do that crap, come on. I was disappointed that Avry had no female friends and the few female characters around her turned into mindless girls that hated her for silly reasons. However, I'll still continue to read this series anyway. The main character was endearing, feisty, and acted her age. It really was an enjoyable book because of the world building and humor. Can't wait to find out what happens next!

This book hooked me from the very start. I was unsure at first because it was a slow start but when I got into it I really could not put it down. Awesome.
