Synopsis

Deric Longden had never thought of himself a cat lover, but from the moment he saw the tiny kitten sitting on an upturned bucket down in the garden he was hooked. Strictly speaking, the little cat belonged to the neighbours, but somehow when it began to rain it seemed only natural to bring him inside, and once there he slipped so easily into Deric’s and Aileen’s lives that there was an unspoken agreement that he had found his real home. Little did he know that he had entered the Longden world, in which ordinary life is always just a little out-of-the-ordinary.
Aileen being Aileen, it was probably inevitable that sooner or later the kitten would be trapped in the refrigerator for longer than was good for him.  And Deric being Deric, the obvious was to thaw him back to life was to make a little coat for him out of an old thermal vest. Thus the cat who came in from the cold got his name- ‘Thermal’ – and joined the wonderful cast of characters in the ongoing Longden saga.
‘The Cat Who Came in from the Cold’ combines Deric Longden’s unique style of gentle humour with al the comic solemnity and cuddly charm of an irresistible kitten.

    One for the Cat lovers

Having read alot of other cat books this one stands out in the special way it's writen. The humor is cathing and make's you smile. The short conversations between the owner and the cat stand out but don't over do it as pretending it to be real but certainly give it that special touch that makes you want to read more. A lot of other cat books make the mistake to fill the book with to much human stuff and their problems.. this one find the nice balance. It's about this furry feline friend that stole his heart. Only four stars for it being to short.. once you have read it, you want to have more and it feels the ending is just the start of it al..

    My review

I loved this book. I liked the way there is no climax ,so it comes as a surprise when the book is finished.

This is such a light-hearted and humorous book that is perfect for the cat lover. The clever use of anthropomorphism makes for an engaging read that depicts the deep bond formed between owners and their cats and warms the heart. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

The cat who came in from the Cold

As always, Deric's ability to captivate and invoke ones imagination as well as memories is outstanding. I have read all his books and found them all wonderful works of art and although 'Diana's Story' can be emotionally difficult to read at times, the content is so deep, inspiring, and most importantly, a wonderful tribute to a truly wonderful person, Diana. After meeting Deric personally on two occasions, I can truly vouch that the man you read about in all these works of art is the real down to earth, Deric, a naturally humorous gentleman whose unique take on everyday life and fur covered shenanigans are literary genius.
