    Very informative

This was a rather informative text, though I wish I had started on something a little more generalised as a first entry into central Asian empires. I found myself struggling a fair bit. However, Beckwith writes with a clear direction and vision, and I learned a lot from this effort. The only wandering I noticed was a dive into heavy critique of modernism and post-modernism as it applied to attitudes towards eurasian viewpoints, but he did manage to bring it all home in the end. I certainly know a lot more now about the area and it's history than I did before.
