A field in the 1600's in England was the place where the King's army murdered the Canon of the nearby church when he tried to defend the residents who sided with Cromwell in the Civil War. He was stabbed to death and the site and the growing town became known as Canonsfield and its church a Catherdral.
Ironically in the 1960's the body of a young girl was found in the same place and she had been murdered in the same way.
The Detective Sergeant of its small police force recruits unusual help in the shape of old war veterans and the Madam of a high class brothel in his efforts to identify the victim and bring the killer to justice.
Some unusual methods are used to hold off a Biker Gang who have raped a City Councilor and are not afraid to use violence.
