Synopsis

The Racketeer is guilty of only one thing: keeping us engaged until the very last page.”—USA Today

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

In the history of the United States, only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett has just become number five. His body is found in his remote lakeside cabin. There is no sign of forced entry or struggle. Just two dead bodies: Judge Fawcett and his young secretary. And one large, state-of-the-art, extremely secure safe, opened and emptied.

One man, a former attorney, knows who killed Judge Fawcett, and why. But that man, Malcolm Bannister, is currently residing in the Federal Prison Camp near Frostburg, Maryland. Though serving time, Malcolm has an ace up his sleeve. He has information the FBI would love to know. Malcolm would love to tell them. But everything has a price—and the man known as the Racketeer wasn’t born yesterday.

Another Great Read, by John Grisham
July 5th, 2015
It's one of those books that you can't wait to finish to find out how it ends, but at the same time, you don't want it to end. When I thought I was on the right path of figuring out where the story was going, it went off in a completely different direction. Love John Grisham and looking forward to picking out my next Grisham novel to read.

Captivating as always!

It's hard to put down any of Grisham's books. This particular one keeps you captivated for 3/4 of the book. The end becomes obvious too early for my taste though.

Lots of twists and turns. Kind of like Shawshank Redemption. Like it a lot and hey how could you say something negative about a Grisham novel, he's a master.

A splendid thrill ride from John Grisham. This is a compelling and intriguing story of a wrongfully convicted lawyer, Malcolm Bannister, who turns the table on the FBI, and leads them on a wild ride through the small towns of West Virginia, Florida, and the Caribbean Islands. After the murder of a Federal judge leaves the FBI spinning its wheels they are forced to negotiate with the one man who knows the truth about it all! Or does he? Suspenseful, fast paced, and enough deception to keep the reader turning pages through the end, and wanting more!
