Synopsis

Every passion has its price . . .

Journalist Sophie Ryder has been following Emery Lockwood's story since she was a little girl. There has always been something in his haunted eyes that she couldn't resist and now, when she's certain he holds the key to solving a string of kidnappings, she'll do anything to speak to him. Even if it means venturing deep into the seductive world of the Gilded Cuff, a luxurious BDSM club on Long Island's Gold Coast and Emery's personal playground.

From the moment Sophie enters his shadowy, sensual domain, Emery Lockwood knows this tantalizing new little sub was meant to belong to him. However, Sophie wants more from Emery than just pleasure . . . she wants his past. And that is something he isn't willing to give-no matter who is asking. But every moment he spends with Sophie, Emery feels his control slipping and he knows it's only a matter of time before he surrenders to her heart, body, and soul.

Tormented by their pasts, yet enthralled by nights of the most decadent pleasure neither of them has ever experienced before, will Sophie and Emery be able to find the release that only surrender can bring?

Book 1 in the Surrender series

"The Gilded Cuff was a dramatic, sexy, and suspenseful romance between two people drowning in survivor's guilt. Lauren Smith crafted an intriguing plot with strong secondary characters. Ms. Smith also created strong women who were brave and courageous; they were unwilling to sit on the sidelines while the men confronted the danger. Fans of Lisa Renee Jones would enjoy the sexy mystery with BDSM relationships." -- Harlequin Junkie

you will get cuffed with the addiction

way beyond 5 stars but then I'm not surprised. Lauren is a fantastic writer that just draws you in .This was more rich than decadent chocolate. It was so mind blowing I felt that I was right in the same room as Emery and Sophie. Sophie is a reporter and she goes to the BSMN club hoping to meet Emery Lockwood. She wants to help solve the 25 yr. old kidnapping mystery and death of his twin Fern. She has a hunch that the kidnapper will try to strike again and try to finish what was started. She wants to solve it because her Best friend was Kidnapped and killed when they were young Sophie goes to the BSMN club and that is where you meet Royce also, one of Emery best friend and a Dom, Emery and Royce do a bet and whoever wins gets a prize. Wont tell you what the prize is you need to get the story and find out. Emery finds on Sophie a picture of him when he was young and he starts to ask questions. That is where he finds out she is a reporter. They also make a deal for the story. Emery takes Sophie home to Lakewood Manor and that is a first for him he never takes a lady from the club home. He does tell Sophie how it will be and how a sub and Dom act towards each other. Small little things start to happen. The Grandfather clock that hadn't worked in years go off and takes Emery back to his years with Fern. He throws Sophie out of the house into the rain with just a tee and shorts. Someone from afar was watching waiting to strike. There is another scene with the Barn burning down so everyone can vacate the house . The Person left Ferns shoe in the kitchen counter. You don't know who is trying to kill Emery off. Their is scenes after scenes that trying to Trigger him off and open him up. Sophie meanwhile has the beautiful cuffs that are shown in the picture but she has captured Emery's heart I would say soul but its to early in the story to say that. But you can see it. The little things that Emery and Sophie do for each other . The little things that mend their hearts and heal them. Emery will not let Sophie go . Not a regular Dom/ Sub story. Last part is a scene, just a glimpse showing Fern is still alive There is somebody out there playing games with them all. There is a whole lot more going on but I cant tell you or Ill be telling you about the whole story. Grab it and you will be addicted . Cant wait for part 2.

    It was golden!

Sophie is a journalist with a knack for solving cold cases. She is taken by Emery's case and sets off to try and talk to him. This proves harder than she would have thought because he is a reclusive billionaire and mostly stays in his gated mansion. Upon talking with a friend, she finds out that that he frequents a BDSM club and talks her friend into getting her in. Emery has closed himself off since his incident many years prior. He is cold, calculative, dominant, and standoffish. There is plenty of sexy, steamy scenes, romance, mystery, secrets, agendas, intriguing characters, and a plot that drew me in. I recommend this book if you like books that are both hot and suspenseful. I received an ecopy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. It was great and I can not wait for the Gilded Cage, the next book in this series.

    ...hard to look away.

For Sophie, Emery is a mystery that she needs to solve. Emery has a dark sensuality that ends up entangling her in a world of control, secrecy and temptation. I received a copy of The Gilded Cuff By Lauren Smith in exchange for an honest review. While reading this dance of danger and suspense the thought running through my mind was the saying about curiosity killing the cat. Sophie's excursion had disaster written all over it, but like a scary thriller, it was hard to look away.
