Mr Winkle is a magnet for the strange and bizarre, which is a little unfortunate really as he violently disagrees with anything that might qualify as being slightly out of the ordinary. Having lost most of his former power and influence to a large corporation headed by a man known simply as “The Boss” Mr Winkle is feeling distinctly disgruntled. That is until one day his legendary sixth sense starts tingling with gusto after many years of it being dormant.

Something big is about to happen.

With the The Boss’ organisation “The Sphere of Influence” heavy on his heals and very keen to stop him breathing, he must scour the globe to crack the secret of the elusive Priory of Sion and the thing called “the vessel”, labotomising, blinding, shooting, exploding and torturing his way to the origins of life on this planet; glory and vindication his prize, death in failure.

It’s a good job he’s got a hefty supply of gin to keep him good and miserable for the duration.

"It’s now 2.45 in the afternoon and other than breakfast, I’ve done nothing apart from lie in bed with my Kindle. ‘Roof’ must keep writing – he has genius qualities. Time for a shower and then back to Mr (Winkle) . . . . brilliant."

I didn't know what to expect with this book, but after the first chapter I was hooked. I don't want to give too much away ,but I really loved the language ,attention to details ,tributes to and poking fun at really classic stories. I hope Offor can find the time to make a sequel,as Shoop is now one of my favorite literary characters of all time.
