Synopsis

Author Brian J Allan takes a controversial look at the phenomena of alien abductions. The Barriers of Belief is an examination of the enigma of non-human contact and its paranormal implications. Although there are many descriptions of bizarre encounters contained in this text, it quickly becomes clear is that there a hair-thin line separating supposed extraterrestrials from legendary supernatural creatures. The difference, where it exists, is based entirely upon the perceptions of the individual and context in which the encounter occurs. As you explore these accounts it quickly becomes clear that there are some very obvious instances where this overlap occurs. Barriers of Belief is not a book solely concentrating on alleged alien abductions. The accounts describe situations where ordinary humans have been placed in situations where the lines separating reality and fantasy become permeable. While the possibility of extraterrestrial interference cannot be ruled out, traditional folklore is replete with accounts that describe contact and interaction with trolls, boggarts, ogres, fairies, elves, the sidhe goblins, demons, and other beings inhabiting the fringes of reality.
