Synopsis

Powerhouse author Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum novels are “laugh-out-loud funny” (St. Louis Post-Dispatch), “brilliantly evocative” (The Denver Post), and “making trouble and winning hearts” (USA Today).

Stephanie Plum has her sights set on catching a notorious mob boss. If she doesn’t take him down, he may take her out.

New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum knows better than to mess with family. But when powerful mobster Salvatore “Uncle Sunny” Sunucchi goes on the lam in Trenton, it’s up to Stephanie to find him. Uncle Sunny is charged with murder for running over a guy (twice), and nobody wants to turn him in—not his poker buddies, not his bimbo girlfriend, not his two right-hand men, Shorty and Moe. Even Trenton’s hottest cop, Joe Morelli, has skin in the game, because—just Stephanie’s luck—the godfather is his actual godfather. And while Morelli understands that the law is the law, his old-world grandmother, Bella, is doing everything she can to throw Stephanie off the trail.

It’s not just Uncle Sunny giving Stephanie the run-around. Security specialist Ranger needs her help to solve the bizarre death of a top client’s mother, a woman who happened to play bingo with Stephanie’s Grandma Mazur. Before Stephanie knows it, she’s working side by side with Ranger and Grandma at the senior center, trying to catch a killer on the loose—and the bingo balls are not rolling in their favor.

With bullet holes in her car, henchmen on her tail, and a giraffe named Kevin running wild in the streets of Trenton, Stephanie will have to up her game for the ultimate takedown.

OK book, NOT great.

OK book, not great. Cute might be a better word. Frankly, it is time for Stef to give Morello the boot. Give Ranger a shot. At least Stef seems to realize it may be time to move on. P

OK reading. Expected more from a seasoned author such as Evanovich. But, the book met its purpose by being a light read.

Have always enjoyed Ms. Evanovich's books and enjoyed this one as well, but it isn't the page turner that some of her books are. Nothing really happened to progress the story line.

This was a fast read but it was the same as the rest. It made me laugh and was enjoyable but it was over so quick and not much new with the characters.

Another great book in the series. The Stephanie Plum novel Takedown Twenty lives up to the fun and suspense filled writing that was in the other books. Can't wait for the next one.

Takedown Twenty didn't disappoint me! I look forward to each new book in this series and reading about the antics of Stephanie, Lula and the Grammas. The connections between family and the neighbourhood are priceless and I love Bella's "eye". I think every woman has had a family member of their man's that you can't get along with no mattter how hard you try! This book highlights the importance of protecting family members regardless of the circumstances with the lengths that Joe's mother, grandmother and his cronies will go to protect Uncle Sunny. A great read!

Always enjoyable! This one did not seem as 'meaty' as some of Evanovich's other Plum novels but if you don't laugh out loud at their escapades, you are doing something wrong! Doubt Janet could ever disappoint. Bring on Book 21!
