“Fantastic! The suspense is relentless and the climax explosive.” —James Dashner, New York Times bestselling author of the Maze Runner series

Steelheart is another win for Sanderson, proving that he’s not a brilliant writer of epic fantasy, he’s simply a brilliant writer. Period.” —Patrick Rothfuss, author of the New York Times and USA Today bestseller The Name of the Wind

[STAR] “Snappy dialogue, bizarre plot twists, high intensity action, and a touch of mystery and romance; it’s a formula that sucks readers into the prologue, slings them through one tension-filled encounter after the other, and then...leaves them panting for the sequel.”—Booklist, Starred

“The near-constant action, Sanderson’s whiz-bang imaginings, and a fully realized sense of danger… make this an absolute page-turner.”—Publishers Weekly

“Perfect for genre fans who love exciting adventure stories with surprising plot twists.”—School Library Journal

“A straight-up Marvel Comics–style action drama.”—Kirkus Reviews

Weak closing, characterization often shallow, but an interesting plot and concept albeit limited in development

Despite the initial premise being a very long stretch for willing suspension of disbelief, the author has executed the story so well that you can't help but become engaged... I will likely read the next in this series not because he has successfully drawn me into this universe but because he has succeeded in getting me invested in the characters

A deceptively light read.

An easy read. Certainly a good book to recommend to teens and up! However, despite the simplicity of the writing style, this book easily handles advanced concepts and expounds apon them in such a way as to be easily understood by even young readers. Additionally, the author does a good job of adding unorthodox humor to help keep the book light-reading friendly.

The characters and story really drew me in. Action packed and exciting from the start with interesting twists throughout. Would have been 5 stars but it was such a quick read it felt like I was just watching a movie. I'm excited for more books in this world.

I don't know what I was expecting
March 26th, 2014
So I bought this book after reading Brandon Sanderson s other novels and I have to admit that I'm disappointed. I guess I knew it was teen fiction, but this seems like it would appeal to kids as young as 10. Very basic style as well as the term "epics" sounding like it was taken straight out of a 12 year Olds xmen fan fiction. I am a fan of sandersons work, but this doesn't even feel like it was written by him.

Very interesting story. Superheroes have arrived, people with incredible powers that bend and break natural law with equal glee are here to save the day. Except the villains have shown up first. Actually all of them are villains. Up in the sky it's an energy beam hitting a plane, it's not what we had hoped. Epics rule the world like the big kid on the playground; petty, arrogant and cruel. They have weaknesses that can be exploited to kill them and end their oppression, but their powers seem to have another affect that may be the real key to saving the day.

Good god did l like reading this book, I might be a bit biased because when I read the description I couldn't get enough of it, it has that comic book fine without being to saturated with the powers and such. Good read, definitely would suggest reading it.

Another great story from Brandon Sanderson, exploring what would happen if only bad people had super powers. An entertaining and interesting tale from start to finish.
