Synopsis

“Koontz gives [Odd Thomas] wit, good humor, a familiarity with the dark side of humanity—and moral outrage.”—USA Today

Once presided over by a Roaring ’20s Hollywood mogul, the magnificent West Coast estate known as Roseland now harbors a reclusive billionaire financier and his faithful servants—and their guests: Odd Thomas, the young fry cook who sees the dead and tries to help them, and Annamaria, his inscrutably charming traveling companion. Fresh from a harrowing clash with lethal adversaries, they welcome their host’s hospitality. But Odd’s extraordinary eye for the uncanny detects disturbing secrets that could make Roseland more hell than haven.

Soon enough the house serves up a taste of its terrors, as Odd begins to unravel the darkest mystery of his curious career. What consequences await those who confront evil at its most profound? Odd only knows.

“Odd Thomas is the greatest character Dean Koontz has ever created. He’s funny, humble, immensely likable, courageous, and just a joy to read about.”—Seattle Post-Intelligencer

I am hooked on the Odd Thomas series. This book was a little harder to stay involved. I felt the need to skim pages to get to the good parts.

B+ for Koontz

This novel was slow in the beginning and some of the mechanical descriptions seemed a little cumbersome. That being said.... This is a nice continuation of the story of one of my favorite characters - Odd Thomas

This was a typically gripping suspense thriller from Odd Thomas. The mysterious Anna Marie who is always in the background but contributes so much to the story, pregnant ?? The property, the owner, the staff and the scaringly swine type creatures are all described and imprinted on your mind, it feels like you know the property like your own.....until it changes!! The lady on the stallion, what links her to the imprisoned boy ? Can they be helped and will it finish Odd if he does. The bodies in mausoleum the description Koontz gives by not describing is awesome and the non description of the DVD, s content leaves the imagination to run riot. Stay gripped to the end , a superb suspense read from Odd.......... and Dean
