For 16-year old Brianna Morrison, the worst summer of her life might turn out to be the best. Her plans for a carefree summer are disrupted when her parents send her to Denver to stay with her older sister, Mel. Mel works nights, so Bri finds herself sleeping during the day and roaming her new neighborhood at night. She meets other teens who share her fascination with the nighttime city, including Denny Graham, a young man struggling to make the best of a troubled home life. Bri soon discovers shes been exiled to Denver because her parents are divorcing and her mother has suffered a nervous breakdown. While Mel copes with this breakup of her family by becoming addicted to prescription drugs, Bri transforms from sheltered baby of the family to independent young woman. With the help of her friends, she finds the strength to confront her father about his affair, persuades Mel to get help, and charts a new course for her future.
