An amazing book
November 25th, 2015
When I started reading Suzanne Collins books' I started with The Underground Chronicles (which would be another amazing movie series). I love the way she can paint pictures in your mind and bring the characters to life. She awakens your imagination with her attention to detail so much so that you can picture yourself in the story. The Hunger Games was complex and kept you riveted to the story page after page. The ending was just as it should be and left everyone wiyh a happy ending. I felt sad when it ended only because the story had to eventually come to an end.

Although so many have praised this series so much I just found it seriously depressing. We have a brutal strange world but I hope we are never reduced to this. I'm really not sure if this could be called a happy ending or not. I had a very difficult time forcing myself though these books. The writing is excellent but the world is too bleak for my taste.. Sorry!

You never finish the games, life is the game. This book is amazing and life changing even though fiction has so much truth in it for reality. I've read this book three time and after this will probably read it again but most of all save it to be taught to my children to learn the harsh lessons Katnis did.

Too much anger/killing. Our world should be focused on solid family life, fathers being leaders/providers, mothers the backbone of life...both roles are needed. This story is all about independence and anger.

A fitting conclusion to a thrilling series.
November 14th, 2014
A fantastic conclusion to the end of the Hunger Games series. Like the previous two books, Mockingjay features Collins' amazing ability to write a thrilling plot-based story that is fresh, exciting, and keeps readers guessing what will happen next. The Mockingjay is a deeply ambivalent book that questions the very essence of good and evil, and Collins' skillfully presents through the story how similar these concepts are in the end.

I love the concepts of revenge, humanity, mercy, and agreements of honor between enemies in war. However, I can't help but notice how teen novels seem to give unearned praise to teen girls with no real interesting or commendable character traits that inevitable string along two boys. What are we teaching young men and women?

Bittersweet conclusion.
June 24th, 2014
The lines between good and evil are left blurred, and the price of hatred, fear, power and war on the individual are laid bare. It may not be the conclusion that people want, but is a more realistic view of the results of oppression and war.

February 20th, 2014
Builds well on the momentum from the end of the second book. Unlike the first two books, this one does not send Katniss into the arena for a third time, which is good because that would be too repetitive, but it also shows us what the world is like beyond the arena and District 12.There is an interesting continuation of the theme of reality TV mixed with war that the first two books were based on, though with a different spin. It is a grand adventure, with a sense of satisfaction in finally being able to take the fight out of the arena and to the Capitol that takes such pleasure in the suffering of others. Unfortunately, the ending lets it down, losing momentum and coming to a quick end that tries to make a point but leaves a sense of unresolved issues, all the more poignant because we know it is the last book in the series. Ultimately, this is not the story of the rebellion against the Capitol, as it seems for the first 90% of the book, but rather the story of Katniss' struggle to face the horrors of war. The upbeat momentum of the beginning of the book didn't seem to match the sudden ending, and so the reader is left not quite satisfied.

If your a fan of the previous 2 then its a must read! This book started off a bit dry but I really couldn't put it down! I was somewhat disappointed by the end in the sense that I expected something else to happen instead of the plot climaxing early and drying out again. I also thought that the character Katniss read differently then the previous novels in the trilogy which was something I actually hated about it, seemed disconnected. However, loose ends were tied by the conclusion of the novel - yet I was still missing a full picture of the character's (wont spoil it for you) Panem future!

I won't dispute the fact that the twists, surprises and inconvenient turmoil to my favorite characters shook me, like a good book always does. That said though, I was not the biggest fan of our main character who is manipulative, not to mention cunning with a complete disregard for the human condition. It was not a joy to read from her perspective. I did enjoy the book itself though and the general purpose of the story. It kept my nails bitten and myself on edge as much as I struggle to admit that it did so.

The world of Panem has descended into civil war, and Katniss has become an unwilling symbol of resistance. Rather than just fighting for her life and her family, as in previous books, the stakes are higher and the consequences more extreme. The book doesn't shy away from the consequences of rebellion or the effect that war has on individuals and populations. It becomes clear that nothing is quite as black and white as it might have appeared. I was impressed that Suzanne Collins stuck to her guns in the final book of the trilogy. This is neither satisfying nor fun, but it's an appropriate conclusion.

The start of the book was awesome. I loved the first two and believed I would love the third. The ending was definetly not what I had anticipated and was left disappointed about how brief Collins had wrote the ending. As well as the way Catniss picked the boy. I thought Collins was unfair to the other character in the book and it seemed like she just wanted to get rid of one to finish the book. Awesome start to the book but was very disappointed with the ending. Hopefully it is changed slightly in the movie.

Since the first time I read the first book, Hunger Games, in a flash I fell in love with the characters in this book, especially Katniss, of course. I really love the first and second book and a little bit disappointed because of the ending about Snow and what exactly happened to Katniss' mental. But overall, I remain as a big big fan of this trilogy. I love the plot, how Collins made me keep wondering about what will happen next. I could not close this book before I finish it. Great!

As in the two previous books, Catching Fire is a great piece. It tells the final story, managing to place the reader in a state of anxiety while reading as our beloved Katniss Everdeen faces obstacle after obstacle. It is a great book yet also a very sad one, allowing us to remember that war, although some times necessary, always will bring loss.

Loved the first book, tolerated the second.... But am just so shell-shocked and bewildered by the third. It was just such a rush of scatter-brained ideas stitched together in the first person that ultimately lead to one if the most unsatisfying endings of a trilogy i've ever experienced. What a strange and confused way to end a series. Read the first one, enjoy it, and stop there, spare yourself the descent into mind-numbing, face-palming insanity.

I found the first part of the book hard to get through, but I kept on edge the whole book through. Definitely keeps you wondering how everything is going to come into place! It is a dark book though and Katniss looses a lot of her spirit and a lot of her hope, I think. I was disappointed by the ending, and felt that she lost her character, and most all, she never fell in love and never rose out of the ashes despite all the hardships she went through. With the war from the districts against the capitol, the book ended up being very heavy with no personal hope. Hardships are meant to bring hope, and change, and healing. But read it and find out for yourself!
