Synopsis

"Authored by David D. Flanagan, Sr,. this book introduces his ongoing advocacy and strong determination to empower our communities and provide positive life options by promoting the importance of reading. In 2003, the author encountered a mother with a child having trouble working the ATM. His initial irritation grew to concern when he realized that the woman could not read. It then occurred to him how important it was to empower a family with strong readers, providing them with positive life options; after all, parents are suppose to instill the need to learn in their children, aren’t they? This became the foundation for his cause. “Dads Love 2 Read” is a program the author initiated in 2006, with an aim to improve reading and confidence in many young people. The program promotes forty-five minutes of reading time per day directly in the schools, before school time starts. The author is looking to expand the program into more elementary schools making it available to more kids. Through this book, he invites readers to take part in his continued effort to accomplish this goal I Am Breaking Into Your Home Because I Can Not Read details how the “Dad’s Love 2 Read” reading program is working to develop our youth into reading champions. It also presents numerous studies connected with reading with an emphasis on its effects in the society and the direct relation between illiteracy and high crime rates. Enlightening and motivating, this release is the first step of a collective effort to improve literacy, empower our youth and take back our communities through the love of reading."
