Synopsis

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jay Crownover returns with a heart-stopping new series… Welcome to the Point.

There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad . . . meet Shane Baxter.

Sexy, dark, and dangerous, Bax isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks, he is the wrong side of the tracks. A criminal, a thug, and a brawler, he’s the master of bad choices, until one such choice landed him in prison for five years. Now Bax is out and looking for answers, and he doesn’t care what he has to do or who he has to hurt to get them. But there’s a new player in the game, and she’s much too innocent, much too soft…and standing directly in his way.

Dovie Pryce knows all about living a hard life and the tough choices that come with it. She’s always tried to be good, tried to help others, and tried not to let the darkness pull her down. But the streets are fighting back, things have gone from bad to worse, and the only person who can help her is the scariest, sexiest, most complicated ex-con The Point has ever produced.

Bax terrifies her, awakening feelings she never thought she’d have for a guy like him. But it doesn’t take Dovie long to realize . . . some boys are just better when they’re bad.

I just could not put that book down. Not you typical romance but just wanted it all to turn our right for Bax and Dovie, bad boy or not

Review from This is the Story of My(Reading) Life
August 12th, 2015
Umm so that was an intense read. But intense in the best way. I was pretty much on the edge of my seat the whole book. Because Jay never fails to deliver on the sexiness, #hotcop guys, #hotcop, it is not all just action on the streets. You get me. I was so excited to get immersed in Titus's story. The past two books we've known him as the cop that tries to keep a semblance of law enforced within his brothers life. Don't get me wrong, Titus is not a dirty cop. He's trying to keep the streets of The Point as clean as they can get. That leaves the poor guy exhausted. The Point is as rough a neighbourhood as one could imagine. I would want Titus protecting my streets. The Point can make it hard to stay on the right side of the law but Titus never wavered. It shows how much he cares for the people there. How hard he's trying to stay one step ahead. Titus is a great mix of hard exterior and soft interior(although not many will see that soft side) encased in one hot shell. Did I mention #hotcop? The job Titus has means you have to be clever and cunning and he sure is. Reeve walks back into his life and literally turns what he should want upside down. Reeve was the backstabbing biznatch who almost got Dovie killed. She took a deal and has been in witness protection. Until Reeve walked away from her handler. Not only did she fall for him but she also discovered he's as dirty as dirty can get. And also batshit crazy. It seems like Reeve tends to be on the wrong side of a good decision. Which coming from The Point happens more often than not. Reeve played the revenge card for her sisters murder and since than she's been living with the consequences. Reeve plays the bad girl well. She's simply gorgeous which she uses to her advantage. Reeve is no damsel, she can take care of herself. She just needs Titus to help her out, him being a cop and all. Also she's been crushing on him for forever. Titus can't want Reeve. She's dangerous on top of her history with Bax and Dovie. Titus trying to fight his attraction to Reeve is cute. It's cute that he thinks he can keep it platonic. *rolls eyes* When Jay called him a pantydropper she ain't kidding. Titus and Reeve are explosive. Here's a hard working cop that needs someone to take care of him well being able to handle his roughness. Reeve has no problem keeping up with him. And that's why being wrong for each other on paper means nothing. You gotta be able to handle your partner and yea, they got each other figured out. It was a whole bunch of sexy. Better When He's Brave took the dark and roughness of The Point to a new level of scary. Seriously, no one was safe. Some of our favorite characters found their lives hanging by a string. When you got a psychotic killer out to take what he thinks is his shit gets real. This series of books is truly gritty and edgy. I love love love Jay's writing and I've yet to find her books repetitive. The romance is hot and sexy. And the story always brings something different with a great cast of characters. As always I'm impatiently waiting her next book.
