Synopsis

Jeffrey Archer's mesmerizing saga of the Clifton and Barrington families continues...

1945, London. The vote in the House of Lords as to who should inherit the Barrington family fortune has ended in a tie. The Lord Chancellor's deciding vote will cast a long shadow on the lives of Harry Clifton and Giles Barrington. Harry returns to America to promote his latest novel, while his beloved Emma goes in search of the little girl who was found abandoned in her father's office on the night he was killed. When the general election is called, Giles Barrington has to defend his seat in the House of Commons and is horrified to discover who the Conservatives select to stand against him. But it is Sebastian Clifton, Harry and Emma's son, who ultimately influences his uncle's fate.

In 1957, Sebastian wins a scholarship to Cambridge, and a new generation of the Clifton family marches onto the page. But after Sebastian is expelled from school, he unwittingly becomes caught up in an international art fraud involving a Rodin statue that is worth far more than the sum it raises at auction. Does he become a millionaire? Does he go to Cambridge? Is his life in danger? Best Kept Secret, the third volume in Jeffrey Archer's bestselling series, will answer all these questions but, once again, pose so many more.

Good. Third in the series so you know what to expect however, I found there were too many new people to keep track off. Not surprised by ending but still quite intriging and you keep reading till the end.

Biggest cliffhanger yet!
May 21st, 2014
This third book the the Clifton Chronicles is every bit as good as the first two. I was slightly upset to find out that what had been listed as a trilogy has more than three books. And this one has the biggest cliffhanger of them all. However, it's hard to be upset when you discover that there is more to one of the best series you've ever read. This book is extremely well written, and the characters are totally believable. I totally recommend this book to anyone who likes to read.

Loved the book but hated that it ended where it did. I hope the next installment is in the works - I can't wait two years to find out what happens next!!!! Archer is a captivating writer and I thoroughly enjoy EVERYTHING he writes.

Even more exciting and unexpected twists and turns for the Clifton family. Wonderland throwback of how day to day life was affected by modern advances in travel & communications. Mix in family intrigue, lies, politics, and honest family values.....fun read.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Loved, loved, loved the first two books. Couldn't wait for the third! But unfortunately I was quite disappointed. As much as I adore Jeffrey Archer's work, the story veered off in so many ways that it was no longer about the Clifton's and the Barringtons. And the ending????? All I can say is I sure hope there's a fourth book in the works.
