Synopsis

It's 2039. Over the past fifteen years, the U.S. has gone through bankruptcy and collapse of the federal, state and county governments, a second Great Depression, establishment of a provisional government, and martial law. Although in economic recovery, HIV/AIDS, long neglected, is now ravaging the country. Over a quarter of the U.S. population is feared infected. Infiltrated by religious-right fundamentalists, the government has mandated nationwide HIV testing and their solution to the HIV/AIDS nemesis is shocking. It could plunge the U.S. into a second Civil War. This leaves our main characters, Reverend Gerald Fall and his spouse, in a dilemma. Their lives go through a rollercoaster ride of events and discoveries about what's really happening in the police state of America. This futuristic journey may cost them their lives in a surreal, alternate reality that hopefully stimulates serious thought re-evaluating conservative, religious-right denominations, Biblical inerrancy, exclusionism, hypocrisy, bigotry, homophobia, persecution, and twisted Christian dogma.

AD 2040: Clear and Present Danger

What a waste.

Was this an alternate reality morality tale, or a revenge fantasy? Not engaging enough to me to even try to figure it out. Hoped at least to get some insight into the fundamentalist mind, but to paraphrase Bruce Banner, this book was a bag of cats. I realize now that it was self published. I'm going to have to be more careful checking out Kobo's recommendations.
