I just finished this marvellous book. It gives excellent insight into the history of slavery, and also the Underground Railroad. The brutality and callousness of owners is difficult to understand. It is a heartbreaking book in many ways, the breaking up of families, with little children being taken from their families, husbands and wives separated...HORRIBLE to have had to experience this in real life. I would recommend this book to everyone.
