Synopsis

This book is subtitled An Allegory About God's Kingdom and What He Did to Make You a Part of It. That really says it all.

Early readers have praised The Town and the Mayor as "...fresh... " and " ...a funny, concise, intelligent and insightful explanation of the Gospel"; "...hard to put down," and "...as I read I felt like I was there, like I was watching a movie"; and "cool imagery."

The Town and the Mayor discusses sin, and what God did about it, by symbolically describing a world in which debt has practically paralyzed the world's population. Actually, that is not a far cry from the real world in which we live, which is one of the things that makes this allegory so readable and believable.

This book will challenge many readers to view God, the Bible as a whole, and specific books in the Bible, like Revelation, in a brand new light. It even contains some smart insight into the true nature of money and accurately describes what the world's banks actually do everyday in the cities and neighborhoods where we live. The clever connection between all this and the way many of us view sin is made clear as the narrator moves through the various fascinating scenes and sometimes irreverent dialogue.

If you are tired or suspicious of religion, but still believe in God, you have found a book that may kindle a lot of questions that are okay to ask. If you can relate with what this reader wrote...

"...this speaks to how I have felt for years. I believe that religion gets in the way and distorts God's love for us and it is not exclusionary but instead the exact opposite..."

...then The Town and the Mayor may be the next great weekend read for you.
