Dave Stoutman decides to become a Texas Ranger after watching his older brother being gunned down by a no-account and the local Sheriff doing nothing about it. This book is about his life up to age seventy and the ordeals and situations he had to encounter during is many years in law enforcement. It all comes to a head when, at age seventy he is challenged to a gunfight in 1908 by four young gunmen that can't stand it that he has been a lawman all these years and no one has killed him.
