A romantic adventure of an ambitious American photographer who has an opportunity to document an archelogical site in the jungles of southeastern Mexico. The year is 1973 and photographer Spencer Golightly takes on the challenge with hopes of becoming a great photographer for National Geographic. Along the way he falls in love with a young native girl. In her defense of a horrible event both are told to leave the excavation site for good and then something horrible happens that forces the two to separate. Spencer returns thirteen years later with hopes of finding Mirabel Chan (The Little Mayan Girl). After hitting several brick walls, he finally locates Mirabel and a decision is made for her to return to the United States with Spencer. As simple as that might seem it really isn't. After overcoming one obstacle after another they make it as far as Mexico City where there love story ends.
