David had always had a problem with controlling or even understanding how he was feeling. A childhood of what seemed to others to be unspectacular events in the grand scheme of suffering: bullying, his operation, stories of cruelty and deception about the biological “father” that he never knew and his fear of turning into him all became the roots of his emotional obstacles. To David though the hallucinations, suicide attempts, self injury and heightened emotions were not just problems but also something new he could explore. He started to go along with the insanity of life and the issues brought with it and began writing poetry as a means of communicating his feelings and thoughts and fantasies. He began writing the poems in this book when he became homeless, carried on writing when he travelled a long way from home and finished this book after he returned and spent a while in a psychiatric wing of his local hospital. A number of people who have already read his work were quite surprised at how much of a sunny disposition someone so troubled could have. Now David’s adventure into his darker emotions have ended he is looking for a more uplifting and pleasant project, maybe one with less scars and doctors.
