Life has always been difficult in Dokono. The Ninhus have been under the thumb of the Rauds for generations. One Ninhu, Zanzhu, has avoided the oncoming Conflict all her life, but when her best friend Uthra asks her to get involved, Zanzhu not only finds herself fighting in the conflict she has so carefully avoided but also fighting to keep the life she has made with new friends Sacha, Maeda and Calim. All the while, she hides a secret ability that allows her to sense her sworn enemy before they have a chance to get to her.

Leaving her isolated existence, Zanzhu quickly becomes a leader in the growing movement among the Ninhu resistance, the Sharebs, of which Maeda is the leader. She brings with her Calim, the only one she knows to have escaped the infamous Keimu Camp where Ninhu prisoners spend the rest of their days perishing under hard labor and torture.

Meanwhile, Zanzhu's only friend Uthra gets caught in the middle in ways she did not intend, but her misfortune leads her to a Ninhu who does not like the mixed breed of Ninhu and Raud that colors Uthra's existence. However, once she and that Ninhu, Sacha, learn to accept each other, they find a mutual feeling between them that is impossible to deny.

While fighting for the freedom of all Ninhu's Maeda fights his feelings for the Ninhu he admires and his fears that she loves another. Calim fights the same battle and the animosity grows between the two.

None of them are aware of the inner conflict in Sacha's brother Maek who carries his own secrets that will threaten to bring about the downfall of all Ninhus.

The Final Resistance is an epic fantasy that explores the bounds of friendship, loyalty and love as well as family and destiny. Inda Lauryn creates a heroine looking at the constant changes all around her and making the tough decisions when she realizes her actions will affect the entire fate of Dokono.
