The true story of an immigrant housewife in 1978, who eases us into the present by way of the past. From the invasion of Poland in 1939, a young couple, Krysta and Anton, court one another from opposite sides of the political divide, surviving the German Blitzkrieg and obstacles as large the Grossglockner and Grossvenediger, the highest mountains in Austria. Idealism, dreams, and hopes of a new country, feed Anton's desire to keep his new family together, despite the separation of years and distance. Krysta and Anton's daughter records their story, of the local people who are forced on opposite sides of war, immigration, language, misfortune, and forgiveness.
