Hebrews 1:1-2; “In days gone by, G_d spoke in many and varied ways to the fathers by the prophets,” 2 But now, in the last days He has spoken to us through his Son, to whom he has given ownership of everything and through whom he created the universe. The Messiah Jesus, frequently expounded in the temple and throughout on the teachings and ministry of G_d revealed in the prophets via visions, dreams, and visitations. The Hebraic definition of the Holy Spirit is the ‘Voice of G_d’s Principles. Within subsequent chapters of this writing we will be able via a communication G_d had with one of His prophets; to expound on the significance of the statement attributed to the Apostle Paul. We will evaluate the reality that ‘G_d is speaking by His Spirit’ and the relation between Son, Torah, and the Spirit. The vision the prophet Zechariah received, gives understanding to many mysteries of the plan of G_d for His people, one of which is the cause of this sharing.
There is certainly invaluable substance in this work done in the prophets, which in order for Him to fulfill all righteousness [Right way or correct; in order]; He had to do diligence through specialized teaching at these appointed times. Matthew 3:15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” G_d having ordered and ordained that He would speak directly to express individuals in His plan for His people, did so. This directive by G_d must be considered as a place for our focus and consideration. Our sole purpose is to seek and ensure our arriving at the unadulterated, authentic, and Divine Order of His Teaching and Instruction. Though there are many prophets we could consider, who have been the ennoble recipients of the Word of G_d as it was given at His appointed time, we have selected only one. This study finds focus on the vision and time for the extraordinary prophetic utterance given to the prophet Zechariah. (Chapter 4) The book named after him זְכַרְיָה (Zechariah) has the meaning "YAHVEH [G_d] remembers". It is so comforting and encouraging having that assurance that G_d remembers me. Naturally what G_d remembers, certainly is of the utmost importance for me to remember. These ideas of remembering were purposely tucked in the last dying words of the judge Samson. [Judges 16:28] (And Samson called to the L_rd, and said, O L_rd G_d, remember me) Remember me, O L_rd…, Psalms 106:4;25:7
Zechariah presents a peculiarity in the fact that G_d dealt specially with a prophet whose name implies remembering? The children of Israel’s recurring problem dealt with their remembering or better yet there failure to always remember that it was G_d who chose and delivered them in the past. There were practices given to Moshe in the Torah for the children of Israel which, simply serve as physical aides for Israel to remember the G_d of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
We would like to offer the last recorded words to Jesus by that penitent criminal on the cross. He too was like Samson facing imminent death but found the priceless benefit in remembering. Luke 23:42
42 Then he said, “Yehushuah [Jesus], remember me when you come as King.”
Wow! Look at what this remembers got him.
43 Jesus said to him, “Yes! I promise that you will be with me today in Gan-‘Eden.”
We all have that hope found in verse forty-three. I repeat what was said a few paragraphs back: “I have always found it so comforting and encouraging having that assurance that G_d remembers me.”
Concerning Zechariah, indisputably it has to be agreed that G_d dealt with this prophet in a spectacular way. G_d’s manifestation to Zechariah is so supernaturally powerful, until this dealings existence alone, suggests or asks the question; “Is there anything about the substance of this vision which possibly suggests or demands that something pertaining to the contents of it should be eternally remembered by His children?” “If so, what is it? And why?”
