Many harbor the notion that hypnosis is strange. It is full of mystery because there really is no scientific explanation as to why putting people into a trance-like, semi-conscious state would have any benefit to them.

Hypnosis has an ancient history of healing. So, it is not surprising at all that despite the strange reputation, a lot of medical professionals prescribe the use of hypnosis even if there is a lack of scientific validation.

Hypnosis is a very effective tool to change a person’s behavior or way of thinking. It has real benefits with helping people stop smoking, with losing weight and with managing their stress. It is also used to help people remember and recall certain traumatic situations so they can get over their fears and emotional shock

Hypnosis has absolutely nothing to do with putting somebody in a zombie-like state and getting him to do your bidding. That’s more what genies and magicians on TV would do. Medical hypnosis is about getting your mind into a deep state of relaxation so that all conscious thoughts are repressed momentarily and you can focus intensely on your subconscious thoughts. While in the subconscious state, the power of suggestion then takes control of the subconscious mind so that whatever has been suggested while on the hypnotic state is easily acceptable and then becomes the dominant thought when the person returns to the conscious state.

By using this process to change your way of thinking, hypnosis can improve your life for the better. That is its power!
