Synopsis

Grace James was an English writer of children's literature and a Japanese folklorist. Best known for collecting and retelling Japanese stories from folk tradition. Short story “Karma” by Grace James will tell the reader about young man Ito Tatewaki, who returned after a long a journey he had taken to the city of Kioto. Suddenly he saw and beheld the figure of a woman before him in the way. It was a slender girl dressed in a simple gown of blue cotton. Lightly she went along the lonely road in the deepening twilight. He fell in love with her at his first look but had to wait for an answer for a long time...In once morning he was found cold and dead, quietly lying in the shade of the garden trees.
