Synopsis

When pressed, Jonathan Shea admits magic runs through his blood, but he’s always been ambivalent about it—until a dragon and her mage show up in the Scottish Highlands, and then all bets are off. Jonathan’s charmed and captivated by the dragon—a creature fresh out of myth and legend—but the woman bonded to the dragon is so enticing, he tosses caution to the winds and dives into the magical power he’s avoided for so long.

Britta and her dragon prepare for a battle to save Earth. Freshly transplanted from a much earlier time, she feels awkward, out of place. The first person she lays eyes on is Jonathan. There’s something about him. She can’t quite pinpoint it, but he has way more magic than he lets on. Magic aside, it’s deeper than that. For the first time ever, she questions the wisdom of remaining a maid. If she doesn’t make up her mind damned fast, though, her choices will fritter away. Beset from every side, she’s never needed her magical ability more.

Surrounded by dragon shifters, Celtic gods, Selkies, time travel, and a heaping portion of magic, Jonathan comes into his own fast. Fell creatures target him, Britta, and her dragon. In the midst of chaos, he and Britta find scorching passion and love so heartbreakingly tender, it will change their lives forever.

    Another Dragon and Some Answers

While Dragon Maid is the third book in the Dragon Lore series, it can be read as a standalone. Though I highly suggest you read the books in the order they were written to better understand all of the characters as the "dark magic" storyline weaves through the books. Lachlan and Maggie, who were in To Love a Highland Dragon, have their storyline continued in this book too. The book ends in a soft cliffhanger with the story continuing in the next book. There is violence and hot steamy sex. Definitely 18+. The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that info here. The author did a great job of describing the battle between good and evil and has well developed characters. There is a lot of history between characters that keeps you guessing what twists and turns will be revealed next. I was happy that I found some of the questions I had from the previous books answered in this one. It definitely kept me riveted. I look forward to reading the last book in this series. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Keeps you glued to story from page 1

This story is about Jonathan. He knows & he admits that he has magic but he doesn’t broadcast it. He’s more of a “closet” witch. He meets a dragon & her bond mate, Britta. As much as the dragon interests him, Britta intrigues him. She’s also a virgin maid. They team up to aid in the battle to save Earth. As she comes from an earlier time, she feels awkward & while she spends time with Jonathan she knows there’s something different about him & his magic. She knows there more to his magic than he lets on. They face fallen creatures straight out of Hell (harpies, gryphons, etc.) & are surrounded by Celtic Gods, selkies, time travel & lots of magic. Jonathan finds out that he’s the son of Arianrhod, the Virgin Goddess & Huntress, which he’s never believed. They have to seek her out for her assistance in locating his father. At which time Jonathan also finds out that he’s descended from an extremely powerful ancient mage. Jonathan must come to terms with a heaping amount of new magic along with becoming mated to Britta & her dragon. This is a wonderful story of developing self-awareness & self-discovery. The battle between good & evils keeps you glued to the story from page 1. Ann writes her characters so that you get to know them, their personalities & makes you feel like they are friends. Each character is fully developed & well written.

    A Wild Ride!

Received this book free for an honest review. Yes! Hold on to your hats people, 'cause things are about to get bumpy. Can I say that the turn of events are surprising, funny and sexy as hell? Why, yes... yes I can! Okay, so the Good vs. Evil battle continues and the re-acquaintance of an old friend has made my heart glad. What will become of this group of heroes and heroines? Come find out. I'm anxious to see how it ends in Dragon's Dare, the conclusion of this series.

    Enjoy!

Dragon Maid is the second book in the series and can be read as a standalone, however, I would recommend reading book 1 and the prequel to get the backstory. Britta is known as the Dragon Maid as she remains a maiden all through her years as a dragon shifter. Jonathan, when pressed, claims to be a witch. However, the two together are so much more. Maybe they combined with Maggie and Lachlan can actually stop the Morrigan in her antics this time. Will Jonathan reveal what he knows? What happens when his mother comes for a visit? Will the prophecy unfold as it has been revealed? Read on to find out! Enjoy! I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
