Prif was the action man. The car came up to pavement level and Hrilim walked in front with the trolley. He stopped and looked at the driver. Prif came striding quickly up the ramp and approached the target from the side on, turned, ducked down and crabbed around to the rear. He held his arms under the car body out of view and, blindly, armed the homemade grenade then rolled it under the car as the driver leaned out of the window and yelled at Hrilim to move. The driver made a fatal mistake by opening the car door and was, if fact, in the act of setting both shoes on the pavement when Hrilim took off at a run, leaving the trolley. By that time, Prif was back down in the parking garage when the powerful grenade exploded. The car flipped on its side and burst into flames amid shouts and screams from close up pedestrians. The driver lost the lower portions of both legs and died at the scene. Two passer-by were seriously injured when the force of the explosion blew one against the building wall and the other went tumbling down the exit ramp. The blast caused numerous less serious and minor injuries to other pedestrians What begins as a routine murder investigation for Sergeant Investigator Lyden Deller and his team turns into a deadly game of cat and mouse. There are unscrupulous and unmerciful forces at large and, by the day, the case becomes more convoluted and dangerous. Drawn into it are the Boston rich and powerful and the henchmen who carry out their commands. Along the way, Detective Deller’s family are forced into playing a part in the deadly game.
