Synopsis

From the author who's inspired millions worldwide with books like Tuesdays with Morrie and The Five People You Meet in Heaven comes his most imaginative novel yet, The Time Keeper--a compelling fable about the first man on earth to count the hours. The man who became Father Time.

In Mitch Albom's newest work of fiction, the inventor of the world's first clock is punished for trying to measure God's greatest gift. He is banished to a cave for centuries and forced to listen to the voices of all who come after him seeking more days, more years. Eventually, with his soul nearly broken, Father Time is granted his freedom, along with a magical hourglass and a mission: a chance to redeem himself by teaching two earthly people the true meaning of time.

He returns to our world--now dominated by the hour-counting he so innocently began--and commences a journey with two unlikely partners: one a teenage girl who is about to give up on life, the other a wealthy old businessman who wants to live forever. To save himself, he must save them both. And stop the world to do so.

Told in Albom's signature spare, evocative prose, this remarkably original tale will inspire readers everywhere to reconsider their own notions of time, how they spend it and how precious it truly is.

I thought the story was interesting but felt it fell a little flat at the end. Overall a good book with good character development, I'm not sorry I bought this one.

A fable for our time
October 29th, 2014
I was going to give this book only 2 stars, but the last wuarter of it- when it finally gets more interesting - moved that up a notch. While the story is well written, the characters remain almost caricatures until the end, gaining depth only at the very last. But then, this is a fable after all, and who expects realistic characters in a fable? The story benefits from being short, as fables generally are, and does have moving monents at the end.

Unfolding story of time and myself..
August 21st, 2014
Time has always been short. Since primary school, got timed for writing homework... On weekends, got hours to work here and there for extra curricular activities n family visits... At work, deadlines and reminders for deliverables n meetings... Time has never been enough to accomplish everything i got on the list/in my mind. Time has rarely been managed well. (Never my forte) Yet, all is related to time... The moment you have lived it; it has already gone... (sad, but it's true) Took me a good time to learn living each moment preciously. Each unique moment, it's now or never. That's is what I have journeyed once again with this book. With time, there is future, there is hope. Father time, himself too, is a graceful gift from Him. Live it to the fullest; live it to praise the beauty God has given me.

Not as good as I was expecting. Very predictable and I found the reading style to be dry. I was hoping for it to be deeper, but I dont feel any more enlightened for reading it
