Synopsis

From Jodi Picoult, one of the most powerful writers in contemporary fiction, comes a riveting, timely, heartbreaking, and terrifying novel of families in anguish -- and friendships ripped apart by inconceivable violence. Until the phone calls came at 3:00 A.M. on a November morning, the Golds and their neighbors, the Hartes, had been inseparable. It was no surprise to anyone when their teenage children, Chris and Emily, began showing signs that their relationship was moving beyond that of lifelong friends. But now seventeen-year-old Emily has been shot to death by her beloved and devoted Chris as part of an apparent suicide pact -- leaving two devastated families stranded in the dark and dense predawn, desperate for answers about an unthinkable act and the children they never really knew.

It wasn't one of my favourite of Jodie's books I've read. It seemed to finish very abruptly and lacked content. I think I'll have a break from her style of writing for a little while.

The Pact by Jodi Picoult

A story of undenible love, bound so close together and unable to be two separate people. This story certainly captured my interest as today there is a lot of talk of teanage suicide in the news and I recommend any one who does have teanage kids to read this. Very well written and and truly a page turner.

Good but predictable read. Unfortunately, it was very short. Not my favourite Jodi Picoult book.

This is a capturing and heartbreaking novel that I couldn't put down. As with all Jodi's novels, the character development is amazing and you feel so connected to them by the end. A great read that keeps you searching for the truth til the very end.

I could not put this book down and finished it in a few days. I could not stop wondering what really happened. As in all her books that I have read so far, the character development was amazing. A very gripping and emotional book.

A heart wrenching story of how one small act affects everyone around you. Jodi Picoults' books are always so real you get right into the characters and this one is no exception.

One of her best. Powerfully authentic. She captures the raw emotion of suicide, grief and the tragic loss of a child that tears apart the family and all we know. An enthralling read.

This book wasn't what I expected. It was drawn out a little too much, knowing I already knew what happened. I'm not saying its horrible but ain't great.

As a parent, this was a heart-wrenching look at how little you know about your kids at times. Makes you want to hold them tight for as long as possible and to always try to listen to their non-verbal cues.
